Counter the Negative Impact on Young People of Too Much Screen Time
The research is clear - excessive screen time and social media use are affecting children's well-being. DOcurious offers a solution that kids actually want to use.
Our challenges are grounded in positive psychology principles, designed to inspire children to explore the real world, engage with their surroundings, and build genuine connections. Kids love it because it's genuinely fun. Parents love it because it's a research-backed approach that promotes healthier, happier children.
We’re turning the tables on screen addiction
It’s no wonder kids love screens. Social media and apps are purposefully designed for addiction. But what if you could take those same concepts and use them to flip the script? That’s exactly what DOcurious does!
Gamification
Our goal-oriented challenges give kids the same things they love online — points, rewards, quests, team chats — but we give it to them in the real world. There, they can have meaningful, safe experiences that build confidence, inspire creativity, and set them up to be healthy, thriving adults in the years ahead.
Human connection
Kids love to chat online, but they — and you — can’t really know who they’re engaging with. That’s scary. DOcurious lets you create groups for family and friends so your kids can build healthy connections completing challenges in person with real friends in the real world.
Room to grow
We have challenges for every age, from toddlers to teens through adults. When your family signs up for DOcurious, you’re setting a healthier habit that you know will grow with your kids. We’re putting positive psychology to work for kids
Research has shown us the dangers of too much screen time. It’s also given us some clues about how to get kids healthy and happy again!
We’ve designed our goal-oriented challenges based on the tenets of positive psychology and self-determination theory so that they’re not just fun — they’re fortifying!  Specifically, we focus on challenges that provide three key elements for human happiness:
Autonomy
Gain a sense of initiative and ownership over your own actions.
Competence
Feel confident that you can succeed and grow.
Relatedness
Experience a sense of belonging and connection.
Will your family accept the challenge?
Real world quests are waiting!
How can I sign my child up?
We care deeply about keeping kids safe — it’s why we created DOcurious in the first place! So, we’ve designed a system that puts you in the driver’s seat while letting your child have fun as independently as possible.

What ages is DoCurious suitable for?

DoCurious offers challenges for kids of all ages — from toddlers doing activities with parents to independent teens. You can select age-appropriate challenges during account setup.

Is DoCurious safe for my child to use?

Yes. DoCurious prioritizes safety. Kids can only interact with people in private groups you approve — like family members, classmates, or trusted friends. There’s no public chat or access to strangers.

Do I need to supervise my child during challenges?

Some challenges are designed for independent play, while others are better with light supervision or family involvement — especially for younger children. Each challenge includes a difficulty level and safety notes.

What kinds of challenges are available?

Activities range from outdoor adventures and art projects to problem-solving games. They’re designed to build confidence, curiosity, and joy — without relying on screens.

How does the points system work?

Kids earn points by completing challenges, collaborating with others, or sharing their accomplishments. Points can unlock badges, trophies, and family or group rewards you choose.

Can siblings or the whole family participate together?

Definitely! Families can take on group challenges, compete on teams, or simply track progress together. It’s a great way to reconnect and create lasting memories.

Do challenges require any special materials?

Many activities use items commonly found at home. If a challenge requires materials (like baking supplies or art tools), you’ll either see a list in advance so you can plan ahead or there will be an opportunity to purchase a challenge kit.

Will my child still want to do this if they’re obsessed with video games?

Yes! We’ve modeled DoCurious challenges on what makes video games addictive — quests, points, achievements, teamwork — but transferred those features into the real world. Kids enjoy it because it feels familiar, fun, and rewarding.

Can I track my child’s progress?

Yes. As the parent account holder, you can view completed challenges, earned rewards, and time spent on activities. You can also set custom goals or screen-free incentives.

Does DoCurious collect personal data from kids?

No. We only collect minimal information necessary to support challenge tracking and safety. We’re fully compliant with COPPA and committed to protecting your child’s privacy.

Is it really screen-free if you’re choosing and tracking challenges online?

Good question! While DOers browse and log challenges online, the activities themselves take place in the real world — away from devices. We design everything to minimize screen use, not reinforce it.

How much time do challenges take?

You’ll find options that range from 10-minute challenges to multi-day adventures. And, you can filter by difficulty level.

How much does DoCurious cost?

DoCurious is free to join, and many challenges are completely free to complete. Optional paid bundles or partner experiences may be available, but you’re never required to pay to participate.
